Atlantis as most people would think of them, was only called Atlantis by outsiders; the nation themself didn't actually have a name and was simply referred to as "our nation" or the Atlantian equivalent. They where one of the greatest magicians of their time. They started young, with magic, though they where easily side tracked at first. They where always curious, exploring, fiddling with things, building high powered telescopes from vague memories of their grandmother's lessons. Very innovative, as you can tell and very smart, too; just the right balance of creative and practical. Still, they where very anti social as a child. Even as the grew and met many people, they where never able to fully move beyond their lack of tolerance for ignorant or uninformed people. They where always impatient with that sort and relished in any deeper conversation they could find. They made a point of teaching the ponies as much as possible about as many things as possible. They were very spiritual and never lost their eternal sense of wonder at nature's beauty.

The first nations to find themselves in the pony world where the Atlantian generation, named for their most memorable member. Many nations, like Ancient Greece and Native America, spent part of their childhoods there. Atlantis was a young adult when they arrived but died before they could return home.

Rome's generation found themselves there, too but that has nothing to do with Atlantis.

New Atlantis was still just a kid, twelve, in human years, at most, when the modern nations arrived in the pony world. He was surprisingly calm about it, while Bermuda had a panic attack. It was in the pony world that he found and added to Atlantis' journals. He was afraid of the dark but found the fear didn't seem to apply when it came to deep sea diving or when water was involved at all, really. It always had a calming effect on him.

Like Ancient Greece before her, the Republic of Atlantis started out in the world of ponies. She was the Kingdom of Atlantis for a while but disbanded her monarchy. After that, she fell into a shut down which lasted for a decade; some expected her to fade away. She used the time to search her sole and returned as the Federation of Atlantis.
As a young kingdom, she was loyal and proud, looking up to her monarchy, until she was disillusioned. She had a fear of deep water as a child and still doesn't trust rafts. She grew up reading Greek legends, fascinated by the scene they played out in the constellations, haunted and entranced by tales of mighty sea monsters. Her monarchs were surprisingly willing to let her remove them, which only confirmed to her that she didn't need them. When they left, she started having strangely vivid dreams, which prompted her sole searching.

She got into the new age movement as a federation, becoming much more mindful of nature and its connection to everyone. She gained a great interest in astrology and astronomy. She mediated a lot and still does. She's a lot more like New Atlantis, since then, though she was less excitable and didn't have his obsession with the sea. She still can't face up to rafting, though she's made amazing progress with curing her fear of storms. She still had problems with stress and financial troubles.

She now lives under a veritable empire of micronations, St.Charlie, as his tenant and republic. Her stress levels are way down and she has picked up a new musical hobby: steel drums. Jamaica offered and she couldn't turn him down. He likes her company, even if all that ocean between them means it's hard to get much of that. She can get very frustrated with sceptics, though she seems almost weirdly content to be ignored by most countries.

Both New Atlantis and the Republic of Atlantis are direct bloodline descendants of the original Atlantis. They're distant cousins, biologically speaking. New Atlantis is both the descendant and reincarnation of Atlantis, while the Republic of Atlantis is the descendant of Atlantis and the reincarnation of New Atlantis. Confusing, I know. I tried my best to explain.
